One subscription per videographer. The same price as everyone.
If your videographers shoot depositions, the work after the shoot is the same every time: line up the cameras, put the date and timecode on the picture, and deliver files you can show are the files you made. Throughline does those steps on the Mac, and your clients' footage is never uploaded.

How a firm buys it
- No team plan and no volume pricing. A firm pays what an individual pays: the subscription on the home page, at its introductory price. No end date for the introductory price has been announced.
- One subscription per videographer. Each subscription is one named person on up to two Macs, such as the edit Mac and a laptop for the road.
- Buy them centrally if you like. The firm can buy several subscriptions on one card. Each comes with its own licence key, which you give to one videographer, and each can be cancelled on its own.
- One merchant of record. Polar sells the subscription, sends a receipt for each one and handles sales tax.
Start with the trial
Every videographer can run the 14-day free trial on their own footage, with no card. Trial exports cover the first 60 seconds, and video it writes is a 720p proof with an overlay, which is enough to check the burn-in and the delivery against what your clients expect.
What it does for a deposition
- Aligns the cameras and a separate recorder from the sound, with no slate and no timecode required.
- Burns in the date, timecode and elapsed seconds, with a matching .srt sidecar, and reports anything it could not draw.
- Places the certified transcript's page:line references against the recording, and reports a line it cannot place as unplaced.
- Delivers with a checksummed manifest and your sign-off recorded against it.
The deposition guide has the detail. A videographer working on their own should see freelancers and legal videographers.
Setting up several videographers
Tell us how many people and which Macs, and we will walk you through it, usually in one email. Or write to support@throughlinepost.com.
Private by default
Throughline runs on your Mac. Transcription runs on your machine and nothing is uploaded; anything that would leave the Mac needs your explicit consent. It works offline and checks its licence in every 30 days. Activation sends the licence key, the app version, the chip model and a random install id, and nothing about you or your files.
Client footage and transcripts are not sent to us. Nothing about a case appears in activation.
Honest limits
- No volume discount. Every subscription costs the same, whether you buy one or twenty.
- Card payment only. We cannot accept purchase orders or invoice on payment terms at the moment.
- The manifest is not cryptographically signed. It is a checksummed record with your sign-off recorded against it. The RFC-3161 timestamp is optional and off until you turn it on.
- It is not legal advice. Requirements for exhibits and video records differ by court and jurisdiction. Confirm what yours asks for.
- It does not replace the reporter’s record. Page:line placement follows the certified transcript you provide.
- Mac only. macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon. It needs to reach the internet once every 30 days to check its licence.
